We absolutely loved our experience at O Pedro! The food was delicious from start to finish. My partner said his fish was “the best fish I’ve ever had,” and I had the squid — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our kids devoured their carbonara pasta and house steak with homemade fries, which is no small feat.
We had to wait a little bit (our fault for not dressing warm enough to sit outside!), but the place was packed the entire time — a great sign. Despite the rush, the staff were constantly on the move: serving, cleaning, helping, smiling — genuinely warm and helpful.
Out of curiosity, I looked up the reviews and saw it has a 4.1 rating with nearly 3,000 reviews. In our opinion, it deserves much more. Many of the lower ratings are outdated (some over 4 years old), and after reading them, we joked that they were written by people just looking for something to complain about!
Our guess? The place has had a recent shift in management or energy — it feels like someone gave it new life without pushing the older staff aside. There are still waiters who don’t speak much English, but they’re kind and fast-paced. The younger blond woman — who spoke excellent English and was incredibly welcoming — turns out to be the owner. She clearly knows this place inside and out, and she’s running it beautifully.
Excellent food, fast and friendly service, and great value. This is a place that’s clearly on the rise, and it no longer deserves just 4.1 stars. Highly recommend!- Group size

It was amazing food, very friendly service. Haven’t had such great food in a while. The veggies were amazing, the fish wasn’t too oily or over seasoned. Just perfect. Really recommend going here. All is super fresh and home made.

Very busy place and if u go u will know why. Start off with fresh bread with different cheeses and pâté, menus are perfect in 4-5 languages making it easy to eat here prices for portions are very generous too. Went the next day for some fish and meat

I’ve been visiting Peniche for 3 years now, and my favourite restaurant to go to is Pedro’s. We eat here all the time and always bring our friends so they can try the amazing food. The Cataplana and the Rib Eye are our favourite dishes. Cooked to perfection every time! Authentic Portuguese food, and very English friendly. Amazing service from Pedro and his daughter. We love it here and will always come back.

my favourite restaurant in whole portugal. its a family run restaurant and everything is made with love. no mass production, no stress, just enjoy this wonderful atmosphere and best seafood ❤️ Thank you O Pedro Family for such a good experience

One of the best seafood rice I've ever eaten. Prices are quite low. It is a popular place, so be prepared to wait a bit
Amazing food and attention. Extremely friendly, patient and very informative about their dishes. We ordered Petingas de Escabeche to start and Dourada and Polvo na Telha for dinner, portions were generous and everything tasted amazing. They were very attentive and checked on us regularly without feeling intrusive. I totally reccomend paying them a visit if you are in Peniche.
